I’ve always wanted to live in another country. Every experience would be completely new and ever so exciting. What I would miss most, though, would be my family back home. When Alina came from Germany to pursue a new work opportunity in Boston, she had these very thoughts. She loved living in Boston these last few years but she always hoped to return home to her family. It was a good thing that Ryan was on board with this plan! They told me that they get along so well because their relationship is built on open communication; they’re always looking out for each other and they each want to do what the other one wants to do. Their agreement to move to Germany is the prime example of how much they are on the same page.

I first met Alina and Ryan at their engagement shoot a couple months before their wedding and the first thing they did when we met was pull out a plush doll of Olaf, yes, the snowman from the movie Frozen! They told me that Olaf will be the ring bearer and that they’re going to need him in some photos. I knew right away that they would be fun people to hang out with. After their awesome engagement shoot around the Boston Public Garden and along the Charles, I was super excited to shoot their wedding!

Alina and Ryan got married at the Brookline Town Hall on a gorgeous summer day in the presence of their parents and siblings. Alina’s family flew in from Germany for this special day. It was an intimate wedding filled with happy tears and heartfelt smiles. With the big move to Germany on the horizon, they really wanted some photos that capture the essence of Boston. What better place to do that than Christopher Columbus Park. The sweeping views of the Boston skyline met the Boston Harbor to create a beautiful scene for the newly wedded couple.

Their reception was held at Precinct. The stringed lights and warm summer evening air made for a perfect wedding dinner scene. Alina previously mentioned that she wasn’t sure if her dad would make a toast as English is his second language but he impressed everyone by rising to the challenge and delivering a wonderful speech. Being bilingual, I’ve always thought that it’s quite difficult to be funny in a non-native language but he was able to do it! The two families mix and mingled and shared some good laughs to close out Alina and Ryan’s awesome wedding day.
