Our very own Karen got hitched! I’ve known Karen for a while now and I had the wonderful honor of photographing her and her husband’s Boston wedding.
Karen and James met through mutual friends. When they first started dating, their relationship very soon became rock solid so I knew that it was just a matter of time before they would become engaged. Sure enough, that day came! James proposed to Karen after a boat ride to Washburn Island during a long weekend getaway. It sounded so romantic! My friendship with Karen revolves around couples becoming engaged and married so it was uber exciting to hear her very own love story play out.
Karen and James escaped to Hawaii to have a private wedding ceremony and they had along photographer Erwin Darmali of Apertura to capture this momentous step in their lives. They came back to Boston to celebrate this occasion with their closest friends and family. Their ceremony was hosted at the Adams Inn in Quincy with a view overlooking the Neponset River. The gathering was small and intimate, consisting of family, “second families” and best friends. Because there were hurricane force gusts outside, we found a quiet little nook in the hotel for portraits. This was a nice moment for Karen and James, who are normally very mellow people, to chill out.
Karen’s always sporting some amount of purple in her day to day attire. On her wedding day, she was adorned with purple hair and it looked pretty awesome! Karen’s dress was absolutely stunning. The lace top was intricate and elegant and the rest was simple and beautiful – it perfectly reflected Karen as a person.
We crossed town to go to China Pearl in Quincy for the dinner reception. James’ best man and brother, Bear and Karen’s maid of honor, Danielle, gave heartfelt speeches that brought about some genuine smiles.
